यॊ ऽसौ सर्वान महीपालान धर्मेण वशम आनयत स शंतनुर महातेजा पितुस तव पितामहः परीयते पार्थ पार्थेन दिवि गाण्डीवधन्वना ॥ ३-१५९-२२ ॥
'And, O Partha, in heaven, he who had brought all the rulers of the earth under his sway through justice—this immensely powerful and highly energetic monarch, your father's grandsire, Shantanu himself—is greatly pleased with the conduct of that wielder of the Gandiva, the foremost of his lineage.' ॥ 3-159-22 ॥
