[वैष्र] युधिष्ठिर धृतिर दाक्ष्यं देशकालौ पराक्रमः लॊकतन्त्रविधानानाम एष पञ्चविधॊ विधिः ।। ३-१५९-१ ।।

sanskrit

'The lord of treasures said, "O Yudhishthira, patience, skill, the right timing and place, and prowess—these five are the keys to success in human affairs."' ।। 3-159-1 ।।

english translation

[vaiSra] yudhiSThira dhRtira dAkSyaM dezakAlau parAkramaH lòkatantravidhAnAnAma eSa paJcavidhò vidhiH || 3-159-1 ||

'And, O foremost of the Kshatriyas, a Kshatriya who is endowed with patience, understands the propriety of time and place, and is well-versed in all human regulations, alone can govern the world for a long time—in all matters.' ।। 3-159-3 ।।
