तस्मिन देशे यदा वृक्षाः सर्व एव निपातिताः पुञ्जी कृताश च शतशः परस्परवधेप्सया ॥ ३-१५४-५१ ॥
'And when all the trees in the area had been uprooted and torn into pieces by them, each striving to kill the other.' ॥ 3-154-51 ॥
english translation
तदा शिलाः समादाय मुहूर्तम इव भारत महाभ्रैर इव शैलेन्द्रौ युयुधाते महाबलौ ॥ ३-१५४-५२ ॥
'Then, O Bharata, those two mighty warriors, seizing rocks, fought for a while, like a mountain and a massive storm cloud.' ॥ 3-154-52 ॥
english translation
उग्राभिर उग्ररूपाभिर बृहतीभिः परस्परम वज्रैर इव महावेगैर आजघ्नतुर अमर्षणौ ॥ ३-१५४-५३ ॥
'Unable to endure each other, they began striking each other with large, hard boulders, resembling fierce thunderbolts.' ॥ 3-154-53 ॥

अभिहत्य च भूयस ताव अन्यॊन्यं बलदर्पितौ भुजाभ्यां परिगृह्याथ चकर्षाते गजाव इव ॥ ३-१५४-५४ ॥
'Then, each challenging the other's strength, they charged at each other once more. Grasping each other by the arms, they began to wrestle, like two mighty elephants.' ॥ 3-154-54 ॥

मुष्टिभिश च महाघॊरैर अन्यॊन्यम अभिपेततुः तयॊश चटचटा शब्दॊ बभूव सुमहात्मनॊः ॥ ३-१५४-५५ ॥
'Next, they struck each other with fierce blows. Then, the two mighty ones began to grind their teeth, producing a chattering sound.' ॥ 3-154-55 ॥
