तम अश्रौषम अहं गत्वा यथावृत्तः सुदुर्मतिः मयि कौरव्य दुष्टात्मा मार्तिकावतकॊ नृपः ॥ ३-१५-१६ ॥
'Upon returning to my kingdom, I learned, O Kaurava, of the harsh words spoken against me by that evil-minded and wicked king of Maticka.' ॥ 3-15-16 ॥

ततॊ ऽहम अपि कौरव्य रॊषव्याकुललॊचनः निश्चित्य मनसा राजन वधायास्य मनॊ दधे ॥ ३-१५-१७ ॥
'And, O descendant of the Kuru race, filled with wrath, I reflected deeply and resolved to slay him.' ॥ 3-15-17 ॥

आनर्तेषु विमर्दं च कषेपं चात्मनि कौरव परवृद्धम अवलेपं च तस्य दुष्कृतकर्मणः ॥ ३-१५-१८ ॥
'Learning of his oppression of the Anarttas, his abuse of me, and his boundless arrogance, I was determined to destroy that wretch.' ॥ 3-15-18 ॥

ततः सौभवधायाहं परतस्थे पृथिवीपते स मया सागरावर्ते दृष्ट आसीत परीप्सता ॥ ३-१५-१९ ॥
'Accordingly, I set out from my city to vanquish the lord of Saubha. Searching for him, I eventually found him on an island in the midst of the ocean.' ॥ 3-15-19 ॥

ततः परध्माप्य जलजं पाञ्चजन्यम अहं नृप आहूय शाल्वं समरे युद्धाय समवस्थितः ॥ ३-१५-२० ॥
'There, I sounded my conch, the Panchajanya, which I had obtained from the sea, and challenged Shalva to battle.' ॥ 3-15-20 ॥
