अन्यः कृतयुगे कालस तरेतायां दवापरे ऽपरः अयं परध्वंसनः कालॊ नाद्य तद रूपम अस्ति मे ।। ३-१४८-६ ।।

sanskrit

'In the Krita Yuga, the state of things was one; in the Treta, another; and in the Dvapara, yet another. In this current age, there is a gradual diminution, and I no longer possess that form.' ।। 3-148-6 ।।

english translation

anyaH kRtayuge kAlasa taretAyAM davApare 'paraH ayaM paradhvaMsanaH kAlò nAdya tada rUpama asti me || 3-148-6 ||

hk transliteration

भूमिर नद्यॊ नगाः शैलाः सिद्धा देवा महर्षयः कालं समनुवर्तन्ते यथा भावा युगे युगे बलवर्ष्म परभावा हि परहीयन्त्य उद्भवन्ति च ।। ३-१४८-७ ।।

sanskrit

'The earth, rivers, plants, rocks, as well as the siddhas, gods, and celestial sages, all conform to the passage of time, reflecting the conditions of each respective Yuga.' ।। 3-148-7 ।।

english translation

bhUmira nadyò nagAH zailAH siddhA devA maharSayaH kAlaM samanuvartante yathA bhAvA yuge yuge balavarSma parabhAvA hi parahIyantya udbhavanti ca || 3-148-7 ||

hk transliteration

तद अलं तव तद रूपं दरष्टुं कुरुकुलॊद्वह युगं समनुवर्तामि कालॊ हि दुरतिक्रमः ।। ३-१४८-८ ।।

sanskrit

'Therefore, O perpetuator of the Kuru race, do not desire to witness my former form. I am bound by the course of time, which is indeed inexorable and insurmountable.' ।। 3-148-8 ।।

english translation

tada alaM tava tada rUpaM daraSTuM kurukulòdvaha yugaM samanuvartAmi kAlò hi duratikramaH || 3-148-8 ||

hk transliteration

[भम] युगसंख्यां समाचक्ष्व आचारं च युगे युगे धर्मकामार्थ भावांश च वर्ष्म वीर्यं भवाभवौ ।। ३-१४८-९ ।।

sanskrit

'Bhimasena said: "Describe to me the durations of the different Yugas, their distinct customs and practices, the nature of virtue, desire, and wealth within each era, the deeds, the strength of beings, and the cycles of life and death in those times."' ।। 3-148-9 ।।

english translation

[bhama] yugasaMkhyAM samAcakSva AcAraM ca yuge yuge dharmakAmArtha bhAvAMza ca varSma vIryaM bhavAbhavau || 3-148-9 ||

hk transliteration

[ह] कृतं नाम युगं तात यत्र धर्मः सनातनः कृतम एव न कर्तव्यं तस्मिन काले युगॊत्तमे ।। ३-१४८-१० ।।

sanskrit

'Hanuman replied: "O child, the Yuga known as Krita was marked by the existence of the eternal and unchanging Dharma. In that supreme Yuga, all beings were naturally perfect in righteousness, leaving no need for religious rites or duties."' ।। 3-148-10 ।।

english translation

[ha] kRtaM nAma yugaM tAta yatra dharmaH sanAtanaH kRtama eva na kartavyaM tasmina kAle yugòttame || 3-148-10 ||
