उपतस्थुर महावीर्या मम चामित्रकर्शन सुग्रीवेणाभवत परीतिर अनिलस्याग्निना यथा ॥ ३-१४७-२६ ॥
'And, O represser of foes, a bond of friendship existed between Sugriva and me, much like that between the wind and fire.' ॥ 3-147-26 ॥

निकृतः स ततॊ भरात्रा कस्मिंश चित कारणान्तरे ऋश्यमूके मया सार्धं सुग्रीवॊ नयवसच चिरम ॥ ३-१४७-२७ ॥
'For some reason, Sugriva, driven out by his brother, dwelt with me for a long time at Rishyamuka.' ॥ 3-147-27 ॥

अथ दाशरथिर वीरॊ रामॊ नाम महाबलः विष्णुर मानुषरूपेण च चारवसु धाम इमाम ॥ ३-१४७-२८ ॥
'Then the mighty son of Dasaratha, the hero Rama, named for his strength, appeared in this world, the incarnation of Vishnu in human form, to protect the realms of the earth.' ॥ 3-147-28 ॥

स पितुः परियम अन्विच्छन सह भार्यः सहानुजः सधनुर धन्विनां शरेष्ठॊ दण्डकारण्यम आश्रितः ॥ ३-१४७-२९ ॥
'Accompanied by his queen and brother, and armed with his bow, that foremost of bowmen, with the aim of securing his father's welfare, began to dwell in the Dandaka forest.' ॥ 3-147-29 ॥

तस्य भार्या जनस्थानाद रावणेन हृता बलात वञ्चयित्वा महाबुद्धिं मृगरूपेण राघवम ॥ ३-१४७-३० ॥
'From Janasthana, the wicked Ravana, using both force and cunning, abducted Rama's queen. Deceiving the foremost of men, O sinless one, he did so through the agency of the Rakshasa Maricha, who took the form of a deer adorned with gem-like and golden spots.' ॥ 3-147-30 ॥
