[वा] नेदं कृच्छ्रम अनुप्राप्तॊ भवान सयाद वसुधाधिप यद्य अहं दवारकायां सयां राजन संनिहितः पुरा ॥ ३-१४-१ ॥
'Vasudeva said, "O king of earth, had I been in Dwaraka, this calamity would not have befallen you!"' ॥ 3-14-1 ॥
english translation
आगछेयम अहं दयूतम अनाहूतॊ ऽपि कौरवैः आम्बिकेयेन दुर्धर्ष राज्ञा दुर्यॊधनेन च ॥ ३-१४-२ ॥
'Even if I had not been invited by the son of Amvika (Dhritarashtra), or by Duryodhana, or the other Kauravas, I would have still intervened in the gambling match.' ॥ 3-14-2 ॥
english translation
वारयेयम अहं दयूतं बहून दॊषान परदर्शयन भीष्मद्रॊणौ समानाय्य कृपं बाह्लीकम एव च ॥ ३-१४-३ ॥
'I would have exposed its many evils, and summoned Bhishma, Drona, Kripa, and Vahlika to aid us.' ॥ 3-14-3 ॥
english translation
वैचित्रवीर्यं राजानम अल दयूतेन कौरव पुत्राणां तव राजेन्द्र तवन्निमित्तम इति परभॊ ॥ ३-१४-४ ॥
'For your sake, I would have advised the son of Vichitravirya—O great monarch, let your sons avoid dice!' ॥ 3-14-4 ॥

तत्र वक्ष्याम्य अहं दॊषान यैर भवान अवरॊफितः वीरसेनसुतॊ यश च राज्यात परभ्रंशितः पुरा ॥ ३-१४-५ ॥
'I would have demonstrated the many perils of the game that led to such distress for you and caused the downfall of the son of Virasena.' ॥ 3-14-5 ॥
