[ल] स तस्या बरह्महत्यायाः पारं गत्वा युधिष्ठिर अर्वावसुस तदा सत्रम आजगाम पुनर मुनिः ॥ ३-१३९-११ ॥
'Lomasa said, "Having completed the vow associated with the slaying of a Brahmana, the sage Arvavasu returned to the sacrifice, O Yudhishthira."' ॥ 3-139-11 ॥
english translation
ततः परावसुर दृष्ट्वा भरातरं समुपस्थितम बृहद्द्युम्नम उवाचेदं वचनं परिषद्गतम ॥ ३-१३९-१२ ॥
'Then, upon seeing his brother arrive, Paravasu addressed Bṛhaddyumna with these words, spoken in the assembly.' ॥ 3-139-12 ॥
english translation
एष ते बरह्महा यज्ञं मा दरष्टुं परविशेद इति बरह्महा परेक्षितेनापि पीडयेत तवां न संशयः ॥ ३-१३९-१३ ॥
'O king, ensure that this slayer of a Brahmana does not enter your sacrifice or even gaze upon it. For without a doubt, even by a mere glance, the killer of a Brahmana can bring harm to you.' ॥ 3-139-13 ॥
english translation
परेष्यैर उत्सार्यमाणस तु राजन्न अर्वावसुस तदा न मया बरह्महत्येयं कृतेत्य आह पुनः पुनः ॥ ३-१३९-१४ ॥
'O lord of men, upon hearing this, the king immediately commanded his attendants to expel Arvavasu. Driven out by the king’s attendants, and repeatedly being called 'O slayer of a Brahmana,' Arvavasu cried out several times, 'It is not I who have killed a Brahmana.'"' ॥ 3-139-14 ॥
english translation
उच्यमानॊ ऽसकृत परेष्यैर बरह्म हन्न इति भारत नैव स परतिजानाति बरह्महत्यां सवयं कृताम मम भरात्रा कृतम इदं मया तु परिरक्षितम ॥ ३-१३९-१५ ॥
'He did not acknowledge that he had observed the vow for his own sake. Instead, he claimed that his brother had committed the sin and that he had absolved him of it.' ॥ 3-139-15 ॥
