यदि तेन पुरा मुक्तॊ भीमसेनॊ बकेन वै अद्यैनं भक्षयिष्यामि पश्यतस ते युधिष्ठिर ॥ ३-१२-३६ ॥
'If Bhimasena was spared by Vaka before, I will devour him today in your presence, O Yudhishthira!' ॥ 3-12-36 ॥

yadi tena purA muktò bhImasenò bakena vai adyainaM bhakSayiSyAmi pazyatasa te yudhiSThira ॥ 3-12-36 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएनं हि विपुलप्राणम अद्य हत्वा वृकॊदरम संभक्ष्य जरयिष्यामि यथागस्त्यॊ महासुरम ॥ ३-१२-३७ ॥
'Just as Agastya consumed and digested the mighty Asura Vatapi, so will I consume and digest Bhima!' ॥ 3-12-37 ॥

enaM hi vipulaprANama adya hatvA vRkòdarama saMbhakSya jarayiSyAmi yathAgastyò mahAsurama ॥ 3-12-37 ॥

'Vidura continued, 'Thus addressed by the Rakshasa, the virtuous Yudhishthira, true to his vows, replied, "This cannot be so," and angrily rebuked the Rakshasa.'' ॥ 3-12-38 ॥

evama uktasa tu dharmAtmA satyasaMdhò yudhiSThiraH naitada astIti sakròdhò bhartsayAma Asa rAkSasama ॥ 3-12-38 ॥

'The mighty-armed Bhima then swiftly uprooted a tree of ten Vyasa lengths, stripping it of its leaves.' ॥ 3-12-39 ॥

'In the meantime, the ever-victorious Arjuna swiftly strung his bow Gandiva, which had the force of a thunderbolt.' ॥ 3-12-40 ॥
