चतुर्दशीम अष्टमीं च रामं पश्यन्ति तापसाः अस्यां रात्र्यां वयतीतायां भवित्री च चतुर्दशी ।। ३-११५-६ ।।

sanskrit

'The ascetics who perform penance in this place are granted the vision of Rama on the fourteenth and eighth days of the lunar cycle. Tomorrow, at the close of this night, the fourteenth day will commence. On that occasion, you will behold him adorned in a dark deerskin, with his hair arranged in matted locks.' ।। 3-115-6 ।।

english translation

caturdazIma aSTamIM ca rAmaM pazyanti tApasAH asyAM rAtryAM vayatItAyAM bhavitrI ca caturdazI || 3-115-6 ||

hk transliteration

[य] भवान अनुगतॊ वीरं जामदग्न्यं महाबलम परत्यक्षदर्शी सर्वस्य पूर्ववृत्तस्य कर्मणाः ।। ३-११५-७ ।।

sanskrit

'Yudhishthira said, "You have been a companion to the mighty Rama, the son of Jamadagni; thus, you must have witnessed all his past deeds."' ।। 3-115-7 ।।

english translation

[ya] bhavAna anugatò vIraM jAmadagnyaM mahAbalama paratyakSadarzI sarvasya pUrvavRttasya karmaNAH || 3-115-7 ||

hk transliteration

स भवान कथयत्व एतद यथा रामेण निर्जिताः आहवे कषत्रियाः सर्वे कथं केन च हेतुना ।। ३-११५-८ ।।

sanskrit

'I urge you to recount how Rama defeated the members of the warrior class on the battlefield and what the root cause of those conflicts was.' ।। 3-115-8 ।।

english translation

sa bhavAna kathayatva etada yathA rAmeNa nirjitAH Ahave kaSatriyAH sarve kathaM kena ca hetunA || 3-115-8 ||

[अक] कन्यकुब्जे महान आसीत पार्थिवः सुमहाबलः गाधीति विश्रुतॊ लॊके वनवासं जगाम सः ।। ३-११५-९ ।।

sanskrit

'In Kanyakubja (there) was a great king, Of immense strength/mighty power, Known in the world as Gadhi, He went to live in the forest.' ।। 3-115-9 ।।

english translation

[aka] kanyakubje mahAna AsIta pArthivaH sumahAbalaH gAdhIti vizrutò lòke vanavAsaM jagAma saH || 3-115-9 ||

hk transliteration

वने तु तस्य वसतः कन्या जज्ञे ऽपसरः समा ऋचीकॊ भार्गवस तां च वरयाम आस भारत ।। ३-११५-१० ।।

sanskrit

'While residing in the heart of the forest, a daughter was born to him, radiant as a celestial nymph. Richika, the son of Bhrigu, sought her hand in marriage.' ।। 3-115-10 ।।

vane tu tasya vasataH kanyA jajJe 'pasaraH samA RcIkò bhArgavasa tAM ca varayAma Asa bhArata || 3-115-10 ||
