तरिदशानां वचॊ शरुत्वा मैत्रावरुणिर अब्रवीत किमर्थम अभियाताः सथ वरं मत्तः किम इच्छथ एवम उक्तास ततस तेन देवास तं मुनिम अब्रुवन ॥ ३-१०२-१६ ॥
'Having heard the words of the gods, Agastya, the son of Mitra and Varuna, asked, 'Why have you come? What boon do you seek from me?' Addressed in this manner, the deities then spoke to the sage, saying .' ॥ 3-102-16 ॥
english translation
taridazAnAM vacò zarutvA maitrAvaruNira abravIta kimarthama abhiyAtAH satha varaM mattaH kima icchatha evama uktAsa tatasa tena devAsa taM munima abruvana ॥ 3-102-16 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएवं तवयेच्छाम कृतं महर्षे; महार्णवं पीयमानं महात्मन ततॊ वधिष्याम सहानुबन्धान; कालेय संज्ञान सुरविद्विषस तान ॥ ३-१०२-१७ ॥
'We ask you to accomplish this task: to drink up the great ocean, O magnanimous sage! Only then shall we be able to defeat the Kalakeyas, the enemies of the gods, along with all their followers.' ॥ 3-102-17 ॥
english translation
evaM tavayecchAma kRtaM maharSe; mahArNavaM pIyamAnaM mahAtmana tatò vadhiSyAma sahAnubandhAna; kAleya saMjJAna suravidviSasa tAna ॥ 3-102-17 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतरिदशानां वचः शरुत्वा तथेति मुनिर अब्रवीत करिष्ये भवतां कामं लॊकानां च महत सुखम ॥ ३-१०२-१८ ॥
'Having heard the words of the gods, the sage replied, 'It shall be done. I will fulfill your desires and act in a way that brings great happiness to humanity.'' ॥ 3-102-18 ॥
english translation
taridazAnAM vacaH zarutvA tatheti munira abravIta kariSye bhavatAM kAmaM lòkAnAM ca mahata sukhama ॥ 3-102-18 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएवम उक्त्वा ततॊ ऽगच्छत समुद्रं सरितां पतिम ऋषिभिश च तपःसिद्धैः सार्धं देवैश च सुव्रतः ॥ ३-१०२-१९ ॥
'Having spoken thus, he proceeded to the ocean, the lord of rivers, accompanied by sages who were accomplished in their penances, as well as by the deities, O you who lead a noble life!' ॥ 3-102-19 ॥

evama uktvA tatò 'gacchata samudraM saritAM patima RSibhiza ca tapaHsiddhaiH sArdhaM devaiza ca suvrataH ॥ 3-102-19 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमनुस्यॊरग गन्धर्वयक्षकिंपुरुषास तथा अनुजग्मुर महात्मानं दरस्तु कामास तद अद्भुतम ॥ ३-१०२-२० ॥
'Men and serpents, celestial singers, Yakshas, and Kinnaras followed the magnanimous sage, all eager to witness that remarkable event.' ॥ 3-102-20 ॥

manusyòraga gandharvayakSakiMpuruSAsa tathA anujagmura mahAtmAnaM darastu kAmAsa tada adbhutama ॥ 3-102-20 ॥
