[लॊमषा] समुद्रं ते समाश्रित्य वारुणं निधिम अम्भसाम कालेयाः संप्रवर्तन्त तरैलॊक्यस्य विनाशने ॥ ३-१००-१ ॥
'Lomasa said, 'The Kalakeyas, taking refuge in the vast ocean, the very abode of Varuna, began their campaign to destroy the universe.'' ॥ 3-100-1 ॥
english translation
ते रात्रौ समभिक्रुद्धा भक्षयन्ति सदा मुनीन आश्रमेषु च ये सन्ति पुन्येष्व आयतनेषु च ॥ ३-१००-२ ॥
'During the dark hours of night, those wrathful Daityas began devouring the sages they found in forest hermitages and sacred sanctuaries.' ॥ 3-100-2 ॥

वसिस्थस्याश्रमे विप्रा भक्षितास तैर दुरात्मभिः अशीतिशतम अष्टौ च नव चान्ये तपस्विनः ॥ ३-१००-३ ॥
'In the sacred asylum of Vasishtha, those vile beings devoured one hundred and eighty Brahmanas, along with nine other ascetics.' ॥ 3-100-3 ॥

चयवनस्याश्रमं गत्वा पुन्यं दविज निसेवितम फलमूलाशनानां हि मुनीनां भक्षितं शतम ॥ ३-१००-४ ॥
'Entering Chyavana's ashram, inhabited by devoted Brahmacharis, they devoured a hundred Brahmanas who subsisted solely on fruits and roots.' ॥ 3-100-4 ॥

एवं रात्रौ सम कुर्वन्ति विविशुश चार्णवं दिवा भरद्वाजाश्रमे चैव नियता बरह्मचारिणः वाय्वाहाराम्बुभक्षाश च विंशतिः संनिपातिताः ॥ ३-१००-५ ॥
'They carried out these acts under the cover of night, retreating into the depths of the sea by day. In Bharadwaja's retreat, they slew twenty Brahmanas of disciplined souls, dedicated to the Brahmacharya way of life, sustained only by air and water.' ॥ 3-100-5 ॥
