चिराय तव पुत्राणां शतम एकश च पार्थिव पाण्डॊः पञ्चैव लक्ष्यन्ते ते ऽपि मन्दाः सुदुःखिताः ।। ३-१०-२१ ।।

sanskrit

'O Bharata, though you have a hundred and one sons, Pandu has only five, who are suffering greatly and living in hardship. My heart is continually troubled by thoughts of how they might survive and prosper in their distress.' ।। 3-10-21 ।।

english translation

cirAya tava putrANAM zatama ekaza ca pArthiva pANDòH paJcaiva lakSyante te 'pi mandAH suduHkhitAH || 3-10-21 ||

कथं जीवेयुर अत्यन्तं कथं वर्धेयुर इत्य अपि इति दीनेषु पार्थेषु मनॊ मे परितप्यते ।। ३-१०-२२ ।।

'How will they survive for long? How will they prosper? Thus, for the wretched Parthas, my mind is tormented.' ।। 3-10-22 ।।

kathaM jIveyura atyantaM kathaM vardheyura itya api iti dIneSu pArtheSu manò me paritapyate || 3-10-22 ||

'O king of the earth, if you wish for the well-being of all the Kauravas, let your son Duryodhana make peace with the Pandavas!' ।। 3-10-23 ।।

yadi pArthiva kauravyAJa jIvamAnAna ihecchasi duryòdhanasa tava sutaH zamaM gacchatu pANDavaiH || 3-10-23 ||
