सानुक्रॊशॊ महात्मानॊ विजितेन्द्रिय शत्रवः हरीमन्तः कीर्तिमन्तश च धर्माचार परायणाः ॥ ३-१-१६ ॥
'The great souls are compassionate, They have conquered the enemies of the senses, They are modest and renowned, And they are devoted to righteous conduct.' ॥ 3-1-16 ॥

एवम उक्त्वानुजग्मुस तान पाण्डवांस ते समेत्य च ऊचुः पराञ्जलयः सर्वे तान कुन्ती माद्रिनन्दनान ॥ ३-१-१७ ॥
'Vaisampayana said, "Having said this, the citizens followed the Pandavas and, upon meeting them, addressed the sons of Kunti and Madri with joined hands:"' ॥ 3-1-17 ॥

कव गमिष्यथ भद्रं वस तयक्त्वास्मान दुःखभागिनः वयम अप्य अनुयास्यामॊ यत्र यूयं गमिष्यथ ॥ ३-१-१८ ॥
'Blessed be you! How can you leave us in such sorrow? We will follow you wherever you go!' ॥ 3-1-18 ॥

अधर्मेण जिताञ शरुत्वा युष्मांस तयक्तघृषैः परैः उद्विग्नाः सम भृशं सर्वे नास्मान हातुम इहार्हथ ॥ ३-१-१९ ॥
'We are deeply distressed to learn of your deceitful defeat by relentless foes. It is unthinkable for you to abandon us, your devoted subjects and friends, who have always sought your well-being and endeavored to please you.' ॥ 3-1-19 ॥

भक्तानुरक्ताः सुहृदः सदा परियहिते रतान कुराजाधिष्ठिते राज्ये न विनश्येम सर्वशः ॥ ३-१-२० ॥
'Devoted and affectionate friends, always engaged in your well-being, would never be destroyed under the rule of the Kuru king.' ॥ 3-1-20 ॥
