स्थापयामासरक्षांसिरथंप्रतिसमन्ततः । ततस्तुहुतभोक्तारंहुतभुक्सदृशप्रभः ॥ ६-७३-२१

जुहावराक्षसश्रेष्ठोमन्त्रवद्विधिवत्तदा । सहविर्लाजसंस्कारैर्माल्यगन्धपुरस्कृतैः ॥ ६-७३-२२

- recited the most auspicious mantras, and, offered an oblation according to the traditional rites. According to tradition, with flowers and fragrance followed by parched grain - ॥ 6-73-22॥

जुहुवेपावकंतत्रराक्षनेन्द्रःप्रतापवान् । शस्त्राणिशरपत्राणिसमिधोऽथविभीतकाः ॥ ६-७३-२३

- the heroic Rakshasa king offered oblations to fire there. (In that fire sacrifice) weapons were serving as reeds, chips of Vibhishaka tree were serving as fuel - ॥ 6-73-23॥

- red pieces of cloth were used, and in the same way the ladle for sacrifice was made of iron. There, heaping the fire with Sharapatras and Tomaras - ॥ 6-73-24॥

- he seized hold of a live goat by the neck. From the great fire of flames, set ablaze by that offering having been thrown into it acting at once without smoke - ॥ 6-73-25॥
