तस्यनानद्यमानस्यकुम्भकर्णस्यरक्षसः । श्रुत्वानिनादंवित्रस्ताःभूमिभूयोवितत्रसे ॥ ६-६१-१६
"People were already afraid of Kumbhakarna, and after hearing the lion roar of this Rakshasa they were even more scared." [6-61-16]
english translation
तत्रकोपान्महेन्द्रस्यकुम्भकर्णोमहाबलः । विकृष्यैरावताद्धन्तंजघानोरसिवासवम् ॥ ६-६१-१७
"Then mighty Kumbhakarna, who was enraged, pulled out the tusk of Airavatha and struck at the chest of Indra." [6-61-17]
english translation
कुम्भकर्णप्रहारार्तोविजज्वाल स वासवः । ततोविषेदुस्सहसादेवाब्रह्मर्षिदानवाः ॥ ६-६१-१८
"Hit by Kumbhakarna Indra felt tormented. The Devatas, Brahmarshis and Danavas became despondent.'' [6-61-18]

प्रजाभिस्सहशक्रश्चययौस्थानंस्वयम्भुवः । कुम्भकर्णस्यदौरात्म्यंशशंसुस्तेप्रजापतेः ॥ ६-६१-१९
''Accompanied by created beings they complained to Brahma. They reported to Brahma about Kumbhakarna's ruthless deeds - [6-61-19]

प्रजानांभक्षणंचापिधर्षणं च दिवौकसाम् । आश्रमध्वंसनंचापिपरस्त्रीहरणंभृशम् ॥ ६-६१-२०
