वानराश्चापिरक्षस्सुगिरवृक्षान्महाशिलाः । प्रवीराःपातयामासुर्मत्तमातङ्गसन्निभाः ॥ ६-५४-६
Heroic Vanaras who resembled elephants in rut showered mountains and trees and huge rocks at Rakshasas. [6-54-6]
english translation
शूराणांयुद्यमानानांसमरेष्न्विवर्तिनाम् । तद्राक्षसगणानांचसुयुद्धंसमवर्तत ॥ ६-५४-७
Between the heroes fighting the battle, who never returned, Great War continued between Rakshasas troops and Vanaras. [6-54-7]

प्रभिन्नशिरसःकेचिछचिन्नैःपादैश्चबाहुभिः । शस्स्रैरर्दितदेहाभ्यरुधिरेणसमुक्षिताः ॥ ६-५४-८
Some with their shattered heads, but bereft of arms and legs, lay on the earth bathed in blood with their bodies wounded by weapons - [6-54-8]

हरयो राक्षसाश्चैन शेरते गाम् समाश्रिताः । कङ्कगृध्राबलाढ्यश्च गोमायुकुलसंकुलाः ॥ ६-५४-९
- monkeys and Rakshasas were prey to herons vultures and crows or devoured by troops of jackals. [6-54-9]
english translation
कबन्धानिसमुत्पेतुर्भीमाणांभीषणानिवै । भुजपाणिशिरश्छिन्नकायाश्चभूतले ॥ ६-५४-१०
With headless trunks leapt up to the terror of all, their arms, hands and heads severed and their limbs hacked to pieces in the fight - [6-54-10]
