एतस्मिन्नन्तरेघोरःसङ्ग्रामःसमवर्तत । रक्षसांवानराणांचयथादेवासुरेपुरा ॥ ६-४२-४१
In the meantime, dreadful conflict arose all over between Rakshasas and Vanaras, which was like the conflict between Devas and asuras earlier. [6-42-41]

तेगदाभिःप्रदीप्ताभिःशक्तिशूलपरश्वधैः । निजघ्नुर्वानरान्घोराःकथयन्तःस्वविक्रमान् ॥ ६-४२-४२
Vowing their own prowess, the Rakshasas began to strike the Vanaras with maces, flaming javelins, tridents, and pikes fiercely. [6-42-42]
english translation
राजाजयतिसुग्रीवइतिशब्दोमहानभूत् । राजन्जयजयेत्युक्त्वास्वस्वनामकथान्ततः ॥ ६-४२-४३
"May the vanara king, triumphant Sugriva be victorious", thus sounded the cry of vanaras in the battlefield. [6-42-43]

तथावृक्षैर्महाकायाःपर्वताग्रैश्चवानराः । निजघ्नुस्तानिरक्षांसिनखैर्दन्तैश्चवेगिताः ॥ ६-४२-४४
Vanaras in the same manner attacked the Rakshasas, with trees and mountains, swiftly and with their nails and teeth. [6-42-44]

राक्षसास्त्वपरेभीमाःप्राकारस्थामहीगतान् । भिन्दिपालैश्चखड्गैश्चशूलैश्चैवव्यदारयन् ॥ ६-४२-४५
Standing on the walls, the redoubtable Rakshasas, pierced the Vanaras with swords, dreadful Bhindipalas. [6-42-45]
