ततॊ वयास सथली नाम यत्र वयासेन धीमता पुत्रशॊकाभितप्तेन देहत्यागार्थ निश्चयः ।। ३-८१-८१ ।।

sanskrit

'One should next proceed to Vyasasthali, where Vyasa, endowed with great wisdom and consumed by grief for his son, had resolved to renounce his body but was consoled once more by the gods.' ।। 3-81-81 ।।

english translation

tatò vayAsa sathalI nAma yatra vayAsena dhImatA putrazòkAbhitaptena dehatyAgArtha nizcayaH || 3-81-81 ||

कृतॊ देवैश च राजेन्द्र पुनर उत्थापितस तदा अभिगम्य सथलीं तस्य गॊसहस्रफलं लभेत ।। ३-८१-८२ ।।

'By proceeding to that sacred spot of Vyasa, one attains the merit of donating a thousand cows.' ।। 3-81-82 ।।

kRtò devaiza ca rAjendra punara utthApitasa tadA abhigamya sathalIM tasya gòsahasraphalaM labheta || 3-81-82 ||

'O son of the Kuru race, by proceeding to the well called Kindatta and offering a measure of sesame, one is freed from all debts and attains success.' ।। 3-81-83 ।।

english translation

kiM dattaM kUpama AsAdya tilaprasthaM paradAya ca gaccheta paramAM siddhima RNaira muktaH kurUdvaha || 3-81-83 ||

अहश च सुदिनं चैव दवे तीर्थे च सुदुर्लभे तयॊः सनात्वा नरव्याघ्र सूर्यलॊकम अवाप्नुयात ।। ३-८१-८४ ।।

'By bathing in the tirtha known as Vedi, one attains the merit of donating a thousand cows. There are also two other renowned tirthas called Ahas and Sudina. O tiger among men, by bathing there, one ascends to the solar realm.' ।। 3-81-84 ।।

ahaza ca sudinaM caiva dave tIrthe ca sudurlabhe tayòH sanAtvA naravyAghra sUryalòkama avApnuyAta || 3-81-84 ||

मृगधूमं ततॊ गच्छेत तरिषु लॊकेषु विश्रुतम तत्र गङ्गा हरदे सनात्वा समभ्यर्च्य च मानवः शूलपाणिं महादेवम अश्वमेध फलं लभेत ।। ३-८१-८५ ।।

sanskrit

'Next, O king, one should journey to the tirtha known as Mrigadhuma, celebrated throughout the three worlds. There, one should bathe in the sacred Ganga. By bathing and worshipping Mahadeva, one attains the merit of the Ashvamedha sacrifice.' ।। 3-81-85 ।।

english translation

mRgadhUmaM tatò gaccheta tariSu lòkeSu vizrutama tatra gaGgA harade sanAtvA samabhyarcya ca mAnavaH zUlapANiM mahAdevama azvamedha phalaM labheta || 3-81-85 ||
