तं दृष्ट्वा नियमेनाथ सवाध्यायाम्नाय कर्शितम भीष्मं कुरु कुलश्रेष्ठं मुनिः परीतमनाभवत ॥ ३-८०-२१ ॥

sanskrit

'Upon seeing Bhishma, the foremost among the Kurus, who was reduced and emaciated due to his strict vows and diligent study of the Vedas, the sage was filled with joy.' ॥ 3-80-21 ॥

english translation

taM dRSTvA niyamenAtha savAdhyAyAmnAya karzitama bhISmaM kuru kulazreSThaM muniH parItamanAbhavata ॥ 3-80-21 ॥
