स परजार्थे परं यत्नम अकरॊत सुसमाहितः तम अभ्यगच्छद बरह्मर्षिर दमनॊ नाम भारत ॥ ३-५०-६ ॥

'With unwavering determination, he did his utmost to obtain offspring. And, O Bharata, there came to him a Brahmarshi named Damana.' ॥ 3-50-6 ॥

english translation

sa parajArthe paraM yatnama akaròta susamAhitaH tama abhyagacchada barahmarSira damanò nAma bhArata ॥ 3-50-6 ॥

तं स भीमः परजाकामस तॊषयाम आस धर्मवित महिष्या सह राजेन्द्र सत्कारेण सुवर्चसम ॥ ३-५०-७ ॥

'And, O king of kings, yearning for offspring, Bhima, well-versed in morality, honored the illustrious Rishi with his queen through a respectful reception.' ॥ 3-50-7 ॥

taM sa bhImaH parajAkAmasa tòSayAma Asa dharmavita mahiSyA saha rAjendra satkAreNa suvarcasama ॥ 3-50-7 ॥

तस्मै परसन्नॊ दमनः सभार्याय वरं ददौ कन्यारत्नं कुमारांश च तरीन उदारान महायशाः ॥ ३-५०-८ ॥

'Pleased, Damana granted the king and his consort a boon in the form of a precious daughter and three sons of noble souls and great renown.' ॥ 3-50-8 ॥

tasmai parasannò damanaH sabhAryAya varaM dadau kanyAratnaM kumArAMza ca tarIna udArAna mahAyazAH ॥ 3-50-8 ॥

दमयन्तीं दमं दान्तं दमनं च सुवर्चसम उपपन्नान गुणैः सर्वैर भीमान भीमपराक्रमान ॥ ३-५०-९ ॥

'They were named Damayanti, Dama, Danta, and the illustrious Damana. The three sons possessed every accomplishment, with formidable appearances and fierce prowess.' ॥ 3-50-9 ॥

'The slender-waisted Damayanti became renowned throughout the world for her beauty, radiance, good name, grace, and fortune.' ॥ 3-50-10 ॥
