अंशाश च कषितिसंप्राप्ता देवगन्धर्वरक्षसाम तया निपातिता युद्धे सवकर्मफलनिर्जिताम गतिं पराप्स्यन्ति कौन्तेय यथा सवम अरिकर्शन ॥ ३-४२-२१ ॥
'And, O son of Kunti, conqueror of all foes, you shall vanquish all the celestial fragments, Danavas, and Rakshasas incarnate on earth. Those you slay will attain the realms they have earned through their deeds.' ॥ 3-42-21 ॥
english translation
अक्षया तव कीर्तिश च लॊके सथास्यति फल्गुन लघ्वी वसुमती चापि कर्तव्या विष्णुना सह ॥ ३-४२-२२ ॥
'O Phalguna, your fame shall endure forever in the world, for you have pleased Mahadeva himself in battle. Together with Vishnu, you shall lighten the burden of the earth.' ॥ 3-42-22 ॥
english translation
गृहाणास्त्रं महाबाहॊ दण्डम अप्रतिवारणम अनेनास्त्रेण सुमहत तवं हि कर्म करिष्यसि ॥ ३-४२-२३ ॥
'Accept this weapon of mine—the mace I wield, which no one can resist. With this, you will accomplish great feats.' ॥ 3-42-23 ॥

परतिजग्राह तत पार्थॊ विधिवत कुरुनन्दनः समन्त्रं सॊपचारं च समॊक्षं सनिवर्तनम ॥ ३-४२-२४ ॥
'O Janamejaya, the son of Pritha received the weapon from Yama with great reverence, accompanied by the sacred Mantras, rituals, and the secrets of how to hurl and withdraw it.' ॥ 3-42-24 ॥

ततॊ जलधर शयामॊ वरुणॊ यादसां पतिः पश्चिमां दिशम आस्थाय गिरम उच्चारयन परभुः ॥ ३-४२-२५ ॥
'Then Varuna, the lord of all aquatic beings, dark as the clouds, spoke from his elevated position in the west.' ॥ 3-42-25 ॥
