मम परतिज्ञां च निबॊध सत्यां; वृणे धर्मम अमृताज जीविताच च राज्यं च पुत्राश च यशॊ धनं च; सर्वं न सत्यस्य कलाम उपैति ।। ३-३५-२१ ।।

sanskrit

'But know, O Bhima, that my promise is unbreakable. I hold virtue in higher regard than life itself and consider it a blessed state akin to celestial existence. Kingdom, sons, fame, and wealth—all these do not even compare to a fraction of the value of truth.' ।। 3-35-21 ।।

english translation

mama paratijJAM ca nibòdha satyAM; vRNe dharmama amRtAja jIvitAca ca rAjyaM ca putrAza ca yazò dhanaM ca; sarvaM na satyasya kalAma upaiti || 3-35-21 ||
