[य] करॊधॊ हन्ता मनुष्याणां करॊधॊ भावयिता पुनः इति विद्धि महाप्राज्ञे करॊधमूलौ भवाभवौ ॥ ३-३०-१ ॥

'Yudhishthira said, "Anger destroys men, yet it also drives them to success. Understand, O wise one, that anger is the root of both prosperity and downfall."' ॥ 3-30-1 ॥

english translation

यॊ हि संहरते करॊधं भावस तस्य सुशॊभने यः पुनः पुरुषः करॊधं नित्यां न सहते शुभे तस्याभावाय भवति करॊधः परमदारुणः ॥ ३-३०-२ ॥

'O beautiful one, he who restrains his anger secures prosperity, while the man who constantly gives in to anger invites his own ruin through that fierce emotion. It is seen in this world that anger is the cause of destruction of every creature.' ॥ 3-30-2 ॥

english translation

करॊधमूलॊ विनाशॊ हि परजानाम इह दृश्यते तत कथं मादृशः करॊधम उत्सृजेल लॊकनाशनम ॥ ३-३०-३ ॥

'How can someone like me indulge in anger, which brings such destruction to the world? An angry man only brings sin upon himself.' ॥ 3-30-3 ॥

english translation

करुद्धः पापं नरः कुर्यात करुद्धॊ हन्याद गुरून अपि करुद्धः परुषया वाचा शरेयसॊ ऽपय अवमन्यते ॥ ३-३०-४ ॥

'An angry man commits sin; in his rage, he may even slay his elders. In his fury, with harsh words, he disregards even what is good and noble.' ॥ 3-30-4 ॥

english translation

वाच्यावाच्ये हि कुपितॊ न परजानाति कर्हि चित नाकार्यम अस्ति करुद्धस्य नावाच्यं विद्यते तथा ॥ ३-३०-५ ॥

'An angry man fails to discern what should or should not be said. There is no action he will refrain from, nor any word he will hesitate to utter in his rage.' ॥ 3-30-5 ॥
