अपि नस तद भवेद भूयॊ यद वयं बराह्मणैः सह समस्ताः सवेषु राष्ट्रेषु सवराज्यस्था भवेमहि ॥ ३-२९९-६ ॥

'May it come to pass once more that, together with the Brahmanas, we may all return to our own kingdoms and dwell there in sovereign rule.' ॥ 3-299-6 ॥

english translation

api nasa tada bhaveda bhUyò yada vayaM barAhmaNaiH saha samastAH saveSu rASTreSu savarAjyasthA bhavemahi ॥ 3-299-6 ॥

इत्य उक्त्वा दुःखशॊकार्ता शुचिर धर्मसुतस तदा संमूर्च्छितॊ ऽभवद राजा साश्रुकण्ठॊ युधिष्ठिरः ॥ ३-२९९-७ ॥

'Having said this, the pure-hearted son of Dharma, King Yudhishthira—overwhelmed by grief and with his voice choked in tears—fell unconscious in a swoon.' ॥ 3-299-7 ॥

itya uktvA duHkhazòkArtA zucira dharmasutasa tadA saMmUrcchitò 'bhavada rAjA sAzrukaNThò yudhiSThiraH ॥ 3-299-7 ॥

तम अथाश्वासयन सर्वे बराह्मणा भरातृभिः सह अथ धौम्यॊ ऽबरवीद वाक्यं महार्थं नृपतिं तदा ॥ ३-२९९-८ ॥

'Thereupon, the Brahmanas, together with his brothers, began to console and encourage him. Then Dhaumya spoke to the king words laden with profound meaning.' ॥ 3-299-8 ॥

tama athAzvAsayana sarve barAhmaNA bharAtRbhiH saha atha dhaumyò 'baravIda vAkyaM mahArthaM nRpatiM tadA ॥ 3-299-8 ॥

राजन विद्वान भवान दान्तः सत्यसंधॊ जितेन्द्रियः नैवंविधाः परमुह्यन्ति नराः कस्यां चिद आपदि ॥ ३-२९९-९ ॥

'O King, you are learned and steadfast in endurance, firm in your word, and master of your senses. Men of such character are never overwhelmed by any calamity, however great.' ॥ 3-299-9 ॥

rAjana vidvAna bhavAna dAntaH satyasaMdhò jitendriyaH naivaMvidhAH paramuhyanti narAH kasyAM cida Apadi ॥ 3-299-9 ॥

देवैर अप्य आपदः पराप्ताश छन्नैश च बहुशस तथा तत्र तत्र सपत्नानां निग्रहार्थं महात्मभिः ॥ ३-२९९-१० ॥

'Even the high-souled gods themselves have roamed in various places in disguise, for the purpose of vanquishing their enemies.' ॥ 3-299-10 ॥
