कस्मिंश चित तु गते काले स राजा नियतव्रतः जयेष्ठायां धर्मचारिण्यां महिष्यां गर्भम आदधे ॥ ३-२७७-२१ ॥
'And when some time had passed, that vow-observing king begot offspring upon his eldest queen, who was devoted to the path of virtue.' ॥ 3-277-21 ॥
english translation
kasmiMza cita tu gate kAle sa rAjA niyatavrataH jayeSThAyAM dharmacAriNyAM mahiSyAM garbhama Adadhe ॥ 3-277-21 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptराजपुत्र्यां तु गर्भः स मालव्यां भरतर्षभ वयवर्धत यथा शुक्ले तारापतिर इवाम्बरे ॥ ३-२७७-२२ ॥
'Then, O bull of the Bharata race, the embryo in the womb of the princess of Malava grew, even as the moon waxes in the heavens during the bright fortnight.' ॥ 3-277-22 ॥

rAjaputryAM tu garbhaH sa mAlavyAM bharatarSabha vayavardhata yathA zukle tArApatira ivAmbare ॥ 3-277-22 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपराप्ते काले तु सुषुवे कन्यां राजीवलॊचनाम करियाश च तस्या मुदितश चक्रे स नृपतिस तदा ॥ ३-२७७-२३ ॥
'And when the time arrived, she gave birth to a daughter with lotus-like eyes. Filled with joy, that noble monarch performed all the customary rites for her with great delight.' ॥ 3-277-23 ॥

parApte kAle tu suSuve kanyAM rAjIvalòcanAma kariyAza ca tasyA muditaza cakre sa nRpatisa tadA ॥ 3-277-23 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसावित्र्या परीतया दत्ता सावित्र्या हुतया हय अपि सावित्रीत्य एव नामास्याश चक्रुर विप्रास तथा पिता ॥ ३-२७७-२४ ॥
'Bestowed in joy by the goddess Savitri, and sanctified through offerings made in her name, she was named Savitri by her father and the Brahmanas alike.' ॥ 3-277-24 ॥

sAvitryA parItayA dattA sAvitryA hutayA haya api sAvitrItya eva nAmAsyAza cakrura viprAsa tathA pitA ॥ 3-277-24 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसा विग्रहवतीव शरीर वयवर्धत नृपात्मजा कालेन चापि सा कन्या यौवनस्था बभूव ह ॥ ३-२७७-२५ ॥
'The princess blossomed like the goddess Śrī incarnate in mortal shape, and in time, she came into the full grace of youth.' ॥ 3-277-25 ॥

sA vigrahavatIva zarIra vayavardhata nRpAtmajA kAlena cApi sA kanyA yauvanasthA babhUva ha ॥ 3-277-25 ॥
