ततः सीतां पुरस्कृत्य विभीषणपुरस्कृताम अविन्ध्यॊ नाम सुप्रज्ञॊ वृद्धामात्यॊ विनिर्ययौ ॥ ३-२७५-६ ॥

'Then, the old and wise counselor of Ravana, named Avindhya, with Sita walking ahead of him but behind Vibhishana, who led the way, emerged from the city.' ॥ 3-275-6 ॥

english translation

tataH sItAM puraskRtya vibhISaNapuraskRtAma avindhyò nAma suprajJò vRddhAmAtyò viniryayau ॥ 3-275-6 ॥

उवाच च महात्मानं काकुत्स्थं दैन्यम आस्थितम परतीच्छ देवीं सद्वृत्तां महात्मञ जानकीम इति ॥ ३-२७५-७ ॥

'With great humility, Avindhya said to the illustrious descendant of Kakutstha, 'O noble one, accept this goddess, the daughter of Janaka, who is of excellent conduct!'' ॥ 3-275-7 ॥

uvAca ca mahAtmAnaM kAkutsthaM dainyama Asthitama paratIccha devIM sadvRttAM mahAtmaJa jAnakIma iti ॥ 3-275-7 ॥

एतच छरुत्वा वचस तस्माद अवतीर्य रथॊत्तमात बाष्पेणापिहितां सीतां ददर्शेक्ष्वाकुनन्दनः ॥ ३-२७५-८ ॥

'Hearing these words, the descendant of the Ikshvaku dynasty alighted from his magnificent chariot and beheld Sita, her eyes filled with tears.' ॥ 3-275-8 ॥

etaca charutvA vacasa tasmAda avatIrya rathòttamAta bASpeNApihitAM sItAM dadarzekSvAkunandanaH ॥ 3-275-8 ॥

मलॊपचितसर्वाङ्गीं जटिलां कृष्णवाससम ॥ ३-२७५-९ ॥

'Upon seeing that beautiful lady, seated in her chariot, grief-stricken, covered in filth, with matted hair, and dressed in ragged clothes, Rama, concerned for his honor.' ॥ 3-275-9 ॥

'Rama, fearful of losing his honor, said to her, 'O daughter of Videha, go wherever you wish! You are now free! What was to be done by me has been done.' ॥ 3-275-10 ॥
