तयॊः समभवद युद्धं सुमहज जय गृद्धिनॊः दिव्यास्त्रविदुषॊस तीव्रम अन्यॊन्यस्पर्धिनॊस तदा ॥ ३-२७२-११ ॥
'The battle that ensued between the two warriors, each determined to vanquish the other and both skilled in celestial weapons, was fearsome beyond measure.' ॥ 3-272-11 ॥
english translation
tayòH samabhavada yuddhaM sumahaja jaya gRddhinòH divyAstraviduSòsa tIvrama anyònyaspardhinòsa tadA ॥ 3-272-11 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptरावणिस तु यदा नैनं विशेषयति सायकैः ततॊ गुरुतरं यत्नम आतिष्ठद बलिनां वरः ॥ ३-२७२-१२ ॥
'But when the son of Ravana saw that his arrows could not gain him any advantage over his adversary, that foremost of mighty warriors gathered all his strength and intensified his efforts.' ॥ 3-272-12 ॥

rAvaNisa tu yadA nainaM vizeSayati sAyakaiH tatò gurutaraM yatnama AtiSThada balinAM varaH ॥ 3-272-12 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतत एनं महावेगैर अर्दयाम आस तॊमरैः तान आगतान स चिच्छेद सौमित्रिर निशितैः शरैः ते निकृत्ताः शरैस तीक्ष्णैर नयपतन वसुधातले ॥ ३-२७२-१३ ॥
'Indrajit then began to hurl countless javelins at Lakshmana with great force. However, the son of Sumitra, with his sharp-edged arrows, sliced them into fragments. Those javelins, thus severed by Lakshmana's keen arrows, fell to the ground.' ॥ 3-272-13 ॥

tata enaM mahAvegaira ardayAma Asa tòmaraiH tAna AgatAna sa ciccheda saumitrira nizitaiH zaraiH te nikRttAH zaraisa tIkSNaira nayapatana vasudhAtale ॥ 3-272-13 ॥

'Then the valiant and handsome Angada, the son of Vali, seized a large tree and, rushing forward with great speed, struck Indrajit on the head with it.' ॥ 3-272-14 ॥

tama aGgadò vAlisutaH zarImAna udyamya pAdapama abhidrutya mahAvegasa tADayAma Asa mUrdhani ॥ 3-272-14 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतस्येन्द्रजिद असंभ्रान्तः परासेनॊरसि वीर्यवान परहर्तुम ऐच्छत तं चास्य परासं चिच्छेद लक्ष्मणः ॥ ३-२७२-१५ ॥
'Undaunted by this, Indrajit, of mighty energy, sought to strike Angada with a lance. However, at that very moment, Lakshmana severed the lance taken up by Ravana's son into pieces.' ॥ 3-272-15 ॥
