शुश्राव तस्य वैदेही ततस तां करुणां गिरम सा पराद्रवद यतः शब्दस ताम उवाचाथ लक्ष्मणः ॥ ३-२६२-२३ ॥
'Hearing that distressing call, the princess of Videha, overcome with fear, implored Lakṣmaṇa to rush toward the direction of the cry. Then Lakṣmaṇa stopped her and spoke to her.' ॥ 3-262-23 ॥
