पितामहॊ रावणस्य साक्षाद देवः परजापतिः सवयम्भूः सर्वलॊकानां परभुः सरष्टा महातपाः ॥ ३-२५८-११ ॥
'That lord of all beings, the self-born Prajapati, the creator of the universe, and the deity of immense ascetic power—he is the grandfather of Ravana.' ॥ 3-258-11 ॥
english translation
पुलस्त्यॊ नाम तस्यासीन मानसॊ दयितः सुतः तस्य वैश्रवणॊ नाम गवि पुत्रॊ ऽभवत परभुः ॥ ३-२५८-१२ ॥
'Pulastya, having a mighty son named Vaishravana, who was born from a cow, was greatly angered when his son, leaving him, went to his grandfather.' ॥ 3-258-12 ॥

पितरं स समुत्सृज्य पितामहम उपस्थितः तस्य कॊपात पिता राजन ससर्जात्मानम आत्मना ॥ ३-२५८-१३ ॥
'In his wrath, Pulastya then created another self of himself.' ॥ 3-258-13 ॥

स जज्ञे विश्रवा नाम तस्यात्मार्धेन वै दविजः परतीकाराय सक्रॊधस ततॊ वैश्रवणस्य वै ॥ ३-२५८-१४ ॥
'With half of his own self, that regenerate one was born of Visrava, with the purpose of wreaking vengeance upon Vaisravana.' ॥ 3-258-14 ॥

पितामहस तु परीतात्मा ददौ वैश्रवणस्य ह अमरत्वं धनेशत्वं लॊकपालत्वम एव च ॥ ३-२५८-१५ ॥
'But the Grandsire, pleased with Vaisravana, granted him immortality, the sovereignty over all the wealth of the universe, and dominion over the guardians of the worlds.' ॥ 3-258-15 ॥
