उक्तॊ रात्रौ मृगैर अस्मि सवप्नान्ते हतशेषितैः तनु भूताः सम भद्रं ते दया नः करियताम इति ॥ ३-२४४-११ ॥
'Those deer that are alive after the others have been slaughtered accosted me at night, after I had awakened, saying, 'We remain like the remnants of our kin. Blest be thou! Have compassion on us.'' ॥ 3-244-11 ॥

ते सत्यम आहुः कर्तव्या दयास्माभिर वनौकसाम साष्ट मासं हि नॊ वर्षं यद एनान उपयुञ्ज्महे ॥ ३-२४४-१२ ॥
'And they have spoken truly. We ought to feel pity for the dwellers of the forest. We have been feeding on them for a year and eight months.' ॥ 3-244-12 ॥

पुनर बहुमृगं रम्यं काम्यकं काननॊत्तमम मरु भूमेः शिरॊ खयातं तृणबिन्दु सरॊ परति तत्रेमा वसतीः शिष्टा विहरन्तॊ रमेमहि ॥ ३-२४४-१३ ॥
'Let us, therefore, again repair to the romantic Kāmyakas, that best of forests abounding in wild animals, situated at the head of the desert, near lake Trinavindu. And there, let us pleasantly pass the rest of our time.' ॥ 3-244-13 ॥

ततस ते पाण्डवाः शीघ्रं परययुर धर्मकॊविदाः बराह्मणैः सहिता राजन ये च तत्र सहॊषिताः इन्द्रसेनादिभिश चैव परेष्यैर अनुगतास तदा ॥ ३-२४४-१४ ॥
'Then, O king, the Pandavas, versed in morality, swiftly departed thence, accompanied by the Brahmanas and all those who lived with them, and followed by Indrasena and other retainers.' ॥ 3-244-14 ॥

ते यात्वानुसृतैर मार्गैः सवन्नैः शुचि जलान्वितैः ददृशुः काम्यकं पुण्यम आश्रमं तापसायुतम ॥ ३-२४४-१५ ॥
'Traveling along well-worn paths that offered abundant grain and crystal-clear water, they finally caught sight of the holy Kamyaka hermitage, a place blessed with spiritual power. ' ॥ 3-244-15 ॥
