[वै] ततॊ ऽरजुनश चित्रसेनं परहसन्न इदम अब्रवीत मध्ये गन्धर्वसैन्यानां महेष्वासॊ महाद्युतिः ॥ ३-२३५-१ ॥
'Vaiśampāyana said: "Then Arjuna, the mighty bowman of radiant splendor, smiled and spoke to Chitrasena amidst the host of Gandharvas."' ॥ 3-235-1 ॥
english translation
किं ते वयवसितं वीर कौरवाणां विनिग्रहे किमर्थं च सदारॊ ऽयं निगृहीतः सुयॊधनः ॥ ३-२३५-२ ॥
'What is your intent, O hero, in subduing the Kauravas? And why has Suyodhana been taken captive along with his wives?' ॥ 3-235-2 ॥
english translation
[चित्र] विदितॊ ऽयम अभिप्रायस ततस्थेन महात्मना दुर्यॊधनस्य पापस्य कर्णस्य च धनंजय ॥ ३-२३५-३ ॥
'Chitrasena replied: "O Dhananjaya, I came to know of the intentions of the wicked Duryodhana and the wretched Karna without even leaving my own abode."' ॥ 3-235-3 ॥
english translation
वनस्थान भवतॊ जञात्वा कलिश्यमानान अनर्हवत इमे ऽवहसितुं पराप्ता दरौपदीं च यशस्विनीम ॥ ३-२३५-४ ॥
'Their very purpose was this—knowing that you were exiled in the forest and suffering great hardships as if forsaken, that wretch, reveling in his own prosperity, desired to witness you in distress and misfortune. They came here to mock you and the illustrious daughter of Drupada.' ॥ 3-235-4 ॥
english translation
जञात्वा चिकीर्षितं चैषां माम उवाच सुरेश्वरः गच्छ दुर्यॊधनं बद्ध्वा सामात्यं तवम इहानय ॥ ३-२३५-५ ॥
'The lord of the celestials, having ascertained their purpose, instructed me: 'Go and bring Duryodhana here in chains, along with his counsellors.' ॥ 3-235-5 ॥
