रुद्रस्य वह्नेः सवाहायाः षण्णां सत्रीणां च तेजसा जातः सकन्दः सुरश्रेष्ठॊ रुद्र सूनुस ततॊ ऽभवत ।। ३-२१८-३० ।।

sanskrit

'And, O Bharata, since Rudra, the Fire-god, Swaha, and the six wives of the seven Rishis played key roles in the birth of the great god Skanda, he was, for this reason, revered as the son of Rudra.' ।। 3-218-30 ।।

english translation

rudrasya vahneH savAhAyAH SaNNAM satrINAM ca tejasA jAtaH sakandaH surazreSThò rudra sUnusa tatò 'bhavata || 3-218-30 ||
