रुद्रस्य वह्नेः सवाहायाः षण्णां सत्रीणां च तेजसा जातः सकन्दः सुरश्रेष्ठॊ रुद्र सूनुस ततॊ ऽभवत ॥ ३-२१८-३० ॥

sanskrit

'And, O Bharata, since Rudra, the Fire-god, Swaha, and the six wives of the seven Rishis played key roles in the birth of the great god Skanda, he was, for this reason, revered as the son of Rudra.' ॥ 3-218-30 ॥

english translation

rudrasya vahneH savAhAyAH SaNNAM satrINAM ca tejasA jAtaH sakandaH surazreSThò rudra sUnusa tatò 'bhavata ॥ 3-218-30 ॥
