अनुप्रविश्य रुद्रेण वह्निं जातॊ हय अयं शिशुः तत्र जातस ततः सकन्दॊ रुद्र सूनुस ततॊ ऽभवत ।। ३-२१८-२९ ।।

sanskrit

'This child came into being through the action of Rudra merging with the essence of the Fire-god, and for this reason, Skanda became known as the son of Rudra.' ।। 3-218-29 ।।

english translation

anupravizya rudreNa vahniM jAtò haya ayaM zizuH tatra jAtasa tataH sakandò rudra sUnusa tatò 'bhavata || 3-218-29 ||
