एष वीराष्टकः परॊक्तः सकन्द मातृगणॊद्भवः छाग वक्त्रेण सहितॊ नवकः परिकीर्यते ॥ ३-२१७-११ ॥

'Renowned as the eighth hero among the sons of Skanda's Mothers, he is also counted as the ninth when the being with the goat-like face is included.' ॥ 3-217-11 ॥

english translation

eSa vIrASTakaH paròktaH sakanda mAtRgaNòdbhavaH chAga vaktreNa sahitò navakaH parikIryate ॥ 3-217-11 ॥

षष्ठं छागमयं वक्त्रं सकन्दस्यैवेति विद्धि तत षष षिरॊ ऽभयन्तरं राजन नित्यं मातृगणार्चितम ॥ ३-२१७-१२ ॥

'It is said that the sixth face of Skanda bore the likeness of a goat. That face, O King, is placed in the center of the six, and it is continuously revered by the Mother.' ॥ 3-217-12 ॥

SaSThaM chAgamayaM vaktraM sakandasyaiveti viddhi tata SaSa Sirò 'bhayantaraM rAjana nityaM mAtRgaNArcitama ॥ 3-217-12 ॥

षण्णां तु परवरं तस्य शीर्षाणाम इह शब्द्यते शक्तिं येनासृजद दिव्यां भद्रशाख इति सम ह ॥ ३-२१७-१३ ॥

'That head, by which Bhadrasakha created the divine energy, is regarded as the greatest of all his heads.' ॥ 3-217-13 ॥

SaNNAM tu paravaraM tasya zIrSANAma iha zabdyate zaktiM yenAsRjada divyAM bhadrazAkha iti sama ha ॥ 3-217-13 ॥

इत्य एतद विविधाकारं वृत्तं शुक्लस्य पञ्चमीम तत्र युद्धं महाघॊरं वृत्तं षष्ठ्यां जनाधिप ॥ ३-२१७-१४ ॥

'O ruler of men, these virtuous and wondrous events occurred on the fifth day of the bright half of the lunar month, while on the sixth, a fierce and terrifying battle took place at that very location.' ॥ 3-217-14 ॥
