सर्वासां या तु मातॄणां नारी करॊधसमुद्भवा धात्री सा पुत्रवत सकन्दं शूलहस्ताभ्यरक्षत ॥ ३-२१५-२१ ॥
'And that lady among the Mothers, born of Anger, with a spike in her hand, vigilantly guarded Skanda as a mother would guard her own child.' ॥ 3-215-21 ॥

लॊहितस्यॊदधेः कन्या करूरा लॊहितभॊजना परिष्वज्य महासेनं पुत्रवत पर्यरक्षत ॥ ३-२१५-२२ ॥
'The fiery, red daughter of the Sea, who subsisted on blood, embraced Mahasena to her breast and nursed him as a mother would.' ॥ 3-215-22 ॥

अग्निर भूत्वा नैगमेयश छाग वक्त्रॊ बहु परजः रमयाम आस शैलस्थं बालं करीडनकैर इव ॥ ३-२१५-२३ ॥
'Meanwhile, Agni, taking the form of a merchant with a goat's mouth, accompanied by many children, began to delight his son with toys in the mountain home of Mahasena.' ॥ 3-215-23 ॥
