महाभूतानि खं वायुर अग्निर आपस तथा च भूः शब्दः सपर्शश च रूपं च रसॊ गन्धश च तद गुणाः ॥ ३-२०१-१६ ॥
'The earth, air, water, fire, and sky are the great elements. And form, odor, sound, touch, and taste are their characteristic properties.' ॥ 3-201-16 ॥
