ते वज्रवेगाभिहता दानवाः पर्वतॊपमाः इतरेतरम आश्लिष्य नयपतन पृथिवीतले ॥ ३-१६९-१६ ॥
'Slaughtered by the intense force of the thunder, the Danavas, resembling towering cliffs, fell to the earth in large masses.' ॥ 3-169-16 ॥
english translation
अन्तर्भूमौ तु ये ऽगृह्णन दानवा रथवाजिनः अनुप्रविश्य तान बाणाः पराहिण्वन यमसादनम ॥ ३-१६९-१७ ॥
'Entering among the Danavas who had taken the stolen steeds into the depths of the earth, the shafts propelled them into the domain of Yama.' ॥ 3-169-17 ॥

हतैर निवातकवचैर निरसैः पर्वतॊपमैः समाच्छाद्यत देशः स विकीर्णैर इव पर्वतैः ॥ ३-१६९-१८ ॥
'The quarter was entirely covered with the slain or vanquished Nivata-Kavachas, resembling towering cliffs and scattered like rugged crags.' ॥ 3-169-18 ॥

न हयानां कषतिः का चिन न रथस्य न मातलेः मम चादृश्यत तदा तद अद्भुतम इवाभवत ॥ ३-१६९-१९ ॥
'There was no harm to the horses, chariots, or the elephants, and at that time, it appeared as though something truly marvelous was happening.' ॥ 3-169-19 ॥

ततॊ मां परहसन राजन मातलिः परत्यभाषत नैतद अर्जुन देवेषु तवयि वीर्यं यदीक्ष्यते ॥ ३-१६९-२० ॥
'Then, smiling, Matali addressed me, 'O King, in none of the celestials, O Arjuna, is the prowess seen that is found in you.'' ॥ 3-169-20 ॥
