अहॊ कृच्छ्रम अनुप्राप्ताः सर्वे सम भरतर्षभ ये वयं तवां वयसनिनं पश्यामः सह सॊदरैः ॥ ३-१५-१ ॥
'Yudhishthira said: "O Krishna, why were you absent from the land of the Anarttas? And, O scion of the Vrishni clan, where did you reside during your time away? What did you do while outside your kingdom?"' ॥ 3-15-1 ॥
english translation
[कृ] शाल्वस्य नगरं सौभं गतॊ ऽहं भरतर्षभ विनिहन्तुं नरश्रेष्ठ तत्र मे शृणु कारणम ॥ ३-१५-२ ॥
'Krishna said: "O mighty scion of the Bharata race, I went to destroy the city of Shalva. Hear now, O foremost of the Kauravas, the reason for my actions."' ॥ 3-15-2 ॥
english translation
महातेजा महाबाहुर यः स राजा महायशाः दमघॊषात्मजॊ वीरः शिशुपालॊ मया हतः ॥ ३-१५-३ ॥
'The valiant son of Damaghosha, the renowned King Shishupala, was slain by me at your Rajasuya sacrifice.' ॥ 3-15-3 ॥
english translation
यज्ञे ते भरतश्रेष्ठ राजसूये ऽरहणां परति सरॊषवशसंप्राप्तॊ नामृष्यत दुरात्मवान ॥ ३-१५-४ ॥
'His fury at seeing the first honors bestowed upon me drove him to act wickedly, and thus I vanquished him, O best of the Bharatas.' ॥ 3-15-4 ॥
english translation
शरुत्वा तं निहतं शाल्वस तीव्ररॊषसमन्वितः उपायाद दवारकां शून्याम इहस्थे मयि भारत ॥ ३-१५-५ ॥
'Upon hearing of Shishupala's death, Shalva, burning with fierce anger, came to Dwaraka, which was left undefended in my absence, O Bharata, as I was residing with you.' ॥ 3-15-5 ॥
