लॊके कषीणे कषयं यान्ति भावा लॊकप्रवर्तकाः युगक्षयकृता धर्माः परार्थनानि विकुर्वते ॥ ३-१४८-३६ ॥

'As creatures degenerate, their natures also deteriorate. The religious acts performed during the waning of the yugas, instead of yielding positive results, produce contrary effects.' ॥ 3-148-36 ॥

english translation

lòke kaSINe kaSayaM yAnti bhAvA lòkapravartakAH yugakSayakRtA dharmAH parArthanAni vikurvate ॥ 3-148-36 ॥

एतत कलियुगं नाम अचिराद यत परवर्तते युगानुवर्तनं तव एतत कुर्वन्ति चिरजीविनः ॥ ३-१४८-३७ ॥

'This is the Kali Yuga, which will soon come to pass. Those who live for a long time will continue to follow the progression of the yugas.' ॥ 3-148-37 ॥

etata kaliyugaM nAma acirAda yata paravartate yugAnuvartanaM tava etata kurvanti cirajIvinaH ॥ 3-148-37 ॥

यच च ते मत्परिज्ञाने कौतूहलम अरिंदम अनर्थकेषु कॊ भावः पुरुषस्य विजानतः ॥ ३-१४८-३८ ॥

'O slayer of foes, as for your curiosity to understand me, I say this: Why should a wise person be eager to know matters that are not essential?' ॥ 3-148-38 ॥

yaca ca te matparijJAne kautUhalama ariMdama anarthakeSu kò bhAvaH puruSasya vijAnataH ॥ 3-148-38 ॥

एतत ते सर्वम आख्यातं यन मां तवं परिपृच्छसि युगसंख्यां महाबाहॊ सवस्ति पराप्नुहि गम्यताम ॥ ३-१४८-३९ ॥

'Thus, O long-armed one, I have fully narrated the characteristics of the different yugas, as you requested. May good fortune be with you! Now, you may return.' ॥ 3-148-39 ॥
