परचलन्ति न वै धर्मात तपॊ दानपरायणाः सवधर्मस्थाः करियावन्तॊ जनास तरेतायुगे ऽभवन ॥ ३-१४८-२५ ॥

'They are devoted to asceticism and the giving of gifts. The four orders adhere to their respective duties and perform their rituals. Such are the people of the Treta Yuga.' ॥ 3-148-25 ॥

english translation

paracalanti na vai dharmAta tapò dAnaparAyaNAH savadharmasthAH kariyAvantò janAsa taretAyuge 'bhavana ॥ 3-148-25 ॥
