[वै] एतच छरुत्वा वचस तस्य वानरेन्द्रस्य धीमतः भीमसेनस तदा वीरः परॊवाचामित्रकर्शनः ॥ ३-१४७-१ ॥

'Vaisampayana said, "O subduer of enemies, upon hearing the words of the wise lord of the monkeys, the valiant Bhima responded with resolve."' ॥ 3-147-1 ॥

english translation

[vai] etaca charutvA vacasa tasya vAnarendrasya dhImataH bhImasenasa tadA vIraH paròvAcAmitrakarzanaH ॥ 3-147-1 ॥

कॊ भवान किंनिमित्तं वा वानरं वपुर आश्रितः बराह्मणानन्तरॊ वर्णः कषत्रियस तवानुपृच्छति ॥ ३-१४७-२ ॥

'Who are you, and why have you taken the form of a monkey? It is a Kshatriya, second only to the Brahmanas, who asks you this question.' ॥ 3-147-2 ॥

kò bhavAna kiMnimittaM vA vAnaraM vapura AzritaH barAhmaNAnantarò varNaH kaSatriyasa tavAnupRcchati ॥ 3-147-2 ॥

कौरवः सॊमवंशीयः कुन्त्या गर्भेण धारितः पाण्डवॊ वायुतनयॊ भीमसेन इति शरुतः ॥ ३-१४७-३ ॥

'He is a scion of the Kuru race, belonging to the noble lunar lineage. Born to Kunti and fathered by the wind-god, he is one of the illustrious sons of Pandu, known as Bhimasena.' ॥ 3-147-3 ॥

kauravaH sòmavaMzIyaH kuntyA garbheNa dhAritaH pANDavò vAyutanayò bhImasena iti zarutaH ॥ 3-147-3 ॥

स वाक्यं भीमसेनस्य समितेन परतिगृह्य तत हनूमान वायुतनयॊ वायुपुत्रम अभाषत ॥ ३-१४७-४ ॥

'Hearing these words from the valiant Kuru hero, Hanuman smiled and, as the son of the wind-god, spoke to his divine brother, Bhimasena.' ॥ 3-147-4 ॥

sa vAkyaM bhImasenasya samitena paratigRhya tata hanUmAna vAyutanayò vAyuputrama abhASata ॥ 3-147-4 ॥

वानरॊ ऽहं न ते मार्गं परदास्यामि यथेप्सितम साधु गच्छ निवर्तस्व मा तवं पराप्यसि वैशसम ॥ ३-१४७-५ ॥

'I am a monkey and will not grant you the passage you seek. It would be wise for you to turn back and avoid inviting your own destruction.' ॥ 3-147-5 ॥

vAnarò 'haM na te mArgaM paradAsyAmi yathepsitama sAdhu gaccha nivartasva mA tavaM parApyasi vaizasama ॥ 3-147-5 ॥
