[विस्नुर] विदितं मे सुराः सर्वं परजानां कषयकारणम भवतां चापि वक्ष्यामि शृणुध्वं विगतज्वराः ।। ३-१०१-६ ।।

sanskrit

'Vishnu said, "O gods! I know the cause of the destruction of all living beings. I shall share this with you; listen attentively with minds untroubled."' ।। 3-101-6 ।।

english translation

[visnura] viditaM me surAH sarvaM parajAnAM kaSayakAraNama bhavatAM cApi vakSyAmi zRNudhvaM vigatajvarAH || 3-101-6 ||

hk transliteration

कालेय इति विख्यातॊ गणः परमदारुणः तैश च वृत्रं समाश्रित्य जगत सर्वं परबाधितम ।। ३-१०१-७ ।।

sanskrit

'There exists a formidable host known as the Kalakeyas, who, under the leadership of Vritra, were wreaking havoc upon the entire universe.' ।। 3-101-7 ।।

english translation

kAleya iti vikhyAtò gaNaH paramadAruNaH taiza ca vRtraM samAzritya jagata sarvaM parabAdhitama || 3-101-7 ||

hk transliteration

ते वृत्रं निहतं दृष्ट्वा सहस्राक्षेण धीमता जीवितं परिरक्षन्तः परविष्टा वरुणालयम ।। ३-१०१-८ ।।

sanskrit

'When they saw that Vritra had been slain by the wise Indra, endowed with a thousand eyes, they sought to preserve their lives by taking refuge in the ocean, the abode of Varuna.' ।। 3-101-8 ।।

english translation

te vRtraM nihataM dRSTvA sahasrAkSeNa dhImatA jIvitaM parirakSantaH paraviSTA varuNAlayama || 3-101-8 ||

hk transliteration

ते परविश्यॊदधिं घॊरं नक्रग्राहसमाकुलम उत्सादनार्थं लॊकानां रात्रौ घनन्ति मुनीन इह ।। ३-१०१-९ ।।

sanskrit

'After entering the ocean, teeming with sharks and crocodiles, they killed the saints at this place under the cover of night, intending to exterminate the people.' ।। 3-101-9 ।।

english translation

te paravizyòdadhiM ghòraM nakragrAhasamAkulama utsAdanArthaM lòkAnAM rAtrau ghananti munIna iha || 3-101-9 ||

hk transliteration

न तु शक्याः कषयं नेतुं समुद्राश्रयगा हि ते समुद्रस्य कषये बुद्धिर भवद्भिः संप्रधार्यताम अगस्त्येन विना कॊ हि शक्तॊ ऽनयॊ ऽरणव शॊषणे ।। ३-१०१-१० ।।

sanskrit

'Those who have taken refuge in the ocean cannot be brought to destruction, Therefore, you all should consider how to dry up the ocean. For who else except Agastya is capable of drying up the ocean?' ।। 3-101-10 ।।

english translation

na tu zakyAH kaSayaM netuM samudrAzrayagA hi te samudrasya kaSaye buddhira bhavadbhiH saMpradhAryatAma agastyena vinA kò hi zaktò 'nayò 'raNava zòSaNe || 3-101-10 ||
