तस्यराक्षसराजस्यनिशम्यपरिदेवितम् । कुम्भकर्णोबभाषेदंवचनंप्रजहास च ॥ ६-६३-१

Hearing the lament of the Rakshasa king, Kumbhakarna replied laughing. [6-63-1]

दृष्टोदोषोहियोऽस्माभिःपुरामन्त्रन्वििर्णये । हितेष्वनभियुक्तेनसोऽयमासादितस्त्वया ॥ ६-६३-२

"While we were discussing earlier and taking decisions, that disaster foreseen by me has reaped for having not trusted the well wishers." [6-63-2]

शीघ्रंखल्वभ्युपेतंत्वांफलंपापस्यकर्मणः । निरयेष्वेवपतनंयथादुष्कृतकर्मणः ॥ ६-६३-३

"Those who do sinful deeds fall unobstructed so also the fruit of your sinful action has come upon you." [6-63-3]

प्रथमंवैमहाराजकृत्यमेतदचिन्तितम् । केवलंवीर्यदर्पेणनानुबन्धोविचिन्तितः ॥ ६-६३-४

"O king! All this action was not thought of at the beginning by you, nor the consequences of action weighed in the pride of your prowess." [6-63-4]

यःपश्चातूर्वकार्याणिकुर्यादैश्वर्यमास्थितः । पूर्वंचोत्तरकार्याणि न स वेदनयानया ॥ ६-६३-५

''He, who trusting in his own power, leaves until last that which should be done first or who does first, that which should follow, is unable to distinguish between what is wise and what is foolish.'' [6-63-5]
