शतयोजनविस्तीर्णात्रिंशद्योजनमायता । सापुरीगोपुरैरुच्चैःपाण्डुराम्बुदसन्निभैः । काञ्चनेनचशालेनराजतेनचशोभते ॥ ६-३९-२१

- a hundred yojanas in breadth and thirty yojanas in length was seen. The city of Lanka looked charming with tall towers resembling white cluster of clouds fortified with gold and silver. ॥ 6-39-21॥

प्रासादैश्चविमानैश्चलङ्कापरमभूषिता । घनैरिवाऽतपापायेमध्यमंवैष्णवंपदम् ॥ ६-३९-२२

The tall buildings decorated beautifully resembled air planes and were shining like heavy rainy clouds exposed to the sun. The building in the centre resembled the abode of Vishnu. ॥ 6-39-22॥

यस्यांस्तम्भसहस्रेणप्रासादस्समलङ्कृतः । कैलासशिखराकारोदृश्यतेखमिवोललिखन् ॥ ६-३९-२३

(In Lanka), a building of a thousand pillars artistically constructed, resembling the peak of Kailasha which seemed to lick the firmament, was to be seen. ॥ 6-39-23॥

चैत्यस्सराक्षसेन्द्रस्यबभूवपुरभूषणम् । शतेनरक्षसांनित्यंयस्समग्रेणरक्ष्यते ॥ ६-३९-२४

This was the retreat of the Indra of the Rakshasa (Ravana) and the ornament of the city, guarded constantly by a hundred Rakshasas. ॥ 6-39-24॥
