[धौम्य] अवन्तिषु परतीच्यां वै कीर्तयिष्यामि ते दिशि यानि तत्र पवित्राणि पुण्यान्य आयतनानि च ।। ३-८७-१ ।।

sanskrit

'Dhaumya continued, 'I shall describe to you the sacred places in the land of the Anarttas that are capable of bestowing great merit, located to the west, O Bharata.'' ।। 3-87-1 ।।

english translation

[dhaumya] avantiSu paratIcyAM vai kIrtayiSyAmi te dizi yAni tatra pavitrANi puNyAnya AyatanAni ca || 3-87-1 ||

hk transliteration

परियङ्ग्वाम्रवनॊपेता वानीर वनमालिनी परत्यक्स्रॊता नदी पुण्या नर्मदा तत्र भारत ।। ३-८७-२ ।।

sanskrit

'There, the sacred river Narmada flows westward, adorned by Priyangu and mango trees, and surrounded by dense cane.' ।। 3-87-2 ।।

english translation

pariyaGgvAmravanòpetA vAnIra vanamAlinI paratyaksròtA nadI puNyA narmadA tatra bhArata || 3-87-2 ||

hk transliteration

निकेतः खयायते पुण्यॊ यत्र विश्रवसॊ मुनेः जज्ञे धनपतिर यत्र कुबेरॊ नरवाहनः ।। ३-८७-३ ।।

sanskrit

'The sacred dwelling place shines forth, where the sage Vishravas lived, Where the lord of wealth, Kubera, the one carried by men, was born.' ।। 3-87-3 ।।

english translation

niketaH khayAyate puNyò yatra vizravasò muneH jajJe dhanapatira yatra kuberò naravAhanaH || 3-87-3 ||

hk transliteration

वैडूर्य शिखरॊ नाम पुण्यॊ गिरिवरः शुभः दिव्यपुष्पफलास तत्र पादपा हरितछदाः ।। ३-८७-४ ।।

sanskrit

'There lies the sacred and auspicious Vaidurya peak, the foremost of hills, abundant with green trees that are perpetually adorned with fruit and flowers.' ।। 3-87-4 ।।

english translation

vaiDUrya zikharò nAma puNyò girivaraH zubhaH divyapuSpaphalAsa tatra pAdapA haritachadAH || 3-87-4 ||

hk transliteration

तस्य शैलस्य शिखरे सरस तत्र च धीमतः परफुल्लनलिनं राजन देवगन्धर्वसेवितम ।। ३-८७-५ ।।

sanskrit

'O lord of the earth, atop that mountain lies a sacred tank adorned with fully bloomed lotuses, frequented by the gods and the Gandharvas.' ।। 3-87-5 ।।

english translation

tasya zailasya zikhare sarasa tatra ca dhImataH paraphullanalinaM rAjana devagandharvasevitama || 3-87-5 ||
