अर्थेन तु समॊ ऽनर्थॊ यत्र लभ्येत नॊदयः न तत्र विपणः कार्यः खरकण्डूयितं हि तत ॥ ३-३४-६४ ॥
'When wealth that is equal to or greater than what is sought cannot be obtained, there should be no expenditure of wealth. Investing it would be like an ass scratching itself: initially pleasurable, but ultimately painful.' ॥ 3-34-64 ॥
