[य] सार्थः परवसतॊ मित्रं भार्या मित्रं गृहे सतः आतुरस्य भिषन मित्रं दानं मित्रं मरिष्यतः ।। ३-२९७-४५ ।।

sanskrit

'Yudhishthira answered: "The friend of one who is an exile in a distant land is his companion; the friend of a householder is his wife; the friend of the sick is the physician; and the friend of one who is about to die is charity."' ।। 3-297-45 ।।

english translation

[ya] sArthaH paravasatò mitraM bhAryA mitraM gRhe sataH Aturasya bhiSana mitraM dAnaM mitraM mariSyataH || 3-297-45 ||
