मत्कृतेन हि ताव अद्य संतापं परम एष्यतः जीवन्ताव अनुजीवामि भर्तव्यौ तौ मयेति ह तयॊः परियं मे कर्तव्यम इति जीवामि चाप्य अहम ॥ ३-२८१-९३ ॥
'Surely, they will suffer great anguish on my account. I hold my life only as long as they live, knowing that it is my duty to support them and to do only what pleases them.' ॥ 3-281-93 ॥
