बालस्यावाः परियाश चास्य करॊत्य अश्वांश च मृन मयान चित्रे ऽपि च लिखत्य अश्वांश चित्राश्व इति चॊच्यते ।। ३-२७८-१३ ।।

sanskrit

'As a child, he loved horses dearly, molding them from clay and sketching their forms with care. And thus, for his fondness and skill, he came to be known as Chitraswa — 'he who draws horses.'' ।। 3-278-13 ।।

english translation

bAlasyAvAH pariyAza cAsya karòtya azvAMza ca mRna mayAna citre 'pi ca likhatya azvAMza citrAzva iti còcyate || 3-278-13 ||
